Hello,
You mention that you cannot take Advil, but that ibuprofen is allowed. However, did you know that these 2 products are identical? Indeed, Advil is the commercial name of the medication that contains ibuprofen (name of the chemical molecule). So, if you are waiting for your allergy tests, I think it would be advisable to stop all anti-inflammatory drugs including ibuprofen (marketed under the name Advil or Motrin) and diclofenac (marketed under the name Voltaree).
Among the medications available without a prescription, we have Tylenol (or acetaminophen) as a choice. Otherwise, depending on whether cold or hot relieves you, different creams with hot or cold effects can be used. In natural products, those containing glucosamine and/or chondroitin can also be used, but studies are not clear on whether they are really effective. You should ask your pharmacist, who will be able to direct you to a suitable treatment based on your overall health. Other medications available for osteoarthritis are prescribed by your doctor.
Note that in the recommendations for osteoarthritis, what has been proven to be more effective than medication and is therefore recommended first is physical exercise (under supervision). This helps to reduce pain, increase joint flexibility, strengthen muscles and slow the progression of osteoarthritis
The following site is interesting concerning osteoarthritis:
