Hello,
First of all, using a lubricant and a moisturizer is one of the first things to do and it usually works very well.
A lubricant is to be used during sex, it offers temporary relief. These can be water-based or silicone-based. Each have their advantages and disadvantages, so it may take a few tries to find the right one for you. In general, however, silicone-based lubricants have a longer-lasting effect than water-based ones, as the latter tend to dry out quickly (and therefore need to be reapplied more often during sex).
A moisturizer is a product that is used on a regular basis, i.e. 2 to 3 times a week. They adhere to the vaginal wall to retain water: this provides long-lasting relief! Once again, there are several products available, the best known being Replens.
Do not hesitate to combine these two products for a better result.
If you are unable to solve your problem with the proposed solutions, I recommend that you consult your doctor in order to get the best possible treatment.
I hope that I have answered your question correctly,
Pierre-Luc Tremblay, pharmacist
