Can I take muscle relaxants with acetaminophen if I am breastfeeding?

37-year-old woman2 years ago
Hello, I have had a lot of pain in my lower back since I gave birth. It sometimes prevents me from even walking. I am followed in osteopathy, physiotherapy and physical therapy. I am advised to take muscle relaxants such as Robax with acetaminophen. Naproxen has little long-term effect.

Hello Madam, thank you for your question!
The muscle relaxant in Robaxacet is methocarbamol. Not much information is available about its safety during breastfeeding. However, one-time exposure does not seem to cause any problems
That being said, a recent review of the literature has shown that this muscle relaxant is not very effective for much more than causing a lot of drowsiness (as such it should be avoided if you have to perform tasks requiring alertness).
I hope I've been of some help to you, and please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have!
