I would like to know if it would be appropriate for me to go back to citalopram and if my pharmacist has the right to refill my prescription.

Hello, I am living with a big problem of anxiety since January, I feel in emergency on everything.January was about my health and February is about war, the end of the world...I feel like I'm always in a state of emergency because I'm afraid it's going to be the end of the world overnight...for 3 years I've been taking Citalopram, it was managing my anxiety very well, but it was putting me to sleep and making me feel rude, so my doctor switched me to Bupropion...Bupropion doesn't manage my anxiety and I feel like it's worse! My doctor switched me to Sertraline but I was getting tingling in every part of my body and pressure in my head so I went back to Bupropion. My doctor is always on top of me so I can never talk to her, during our appointments she just rushes me.I feel like she's pitching me meds.I really need something to calm my anxiety because it's getting unbearable.

Good morning, ma'am,
Your pharmacist cannot re-start citalopram, but he/she can recommend it to your physician and follow up closely with you on its effectiveness and side effects.
Having said that, I believe that the description of your symptoms requires a new evaluation of your condition and needs, either with your doctor or another, as soon as possible.
Also, if it has not already been started, cognitive-behavioral therapy with a psychologist or psychotherapist can greatly help in addition to medication. Most group insurances cover this type of service.
As for weight gain with citalopram and others, this is the result of increased appetite. In this regard, a balanced diet and moderate intensity exercise for 30 minutes a day are not only good avenues for this but can also greatly help mental health. Consultations with a nutritionist and physical therapist or kinesiologist can help develop realistic eating and exercise plans for you.
I hope I have been helpful, I remain available if you have further questions.

Hello,
Perfect, thank you. I went to see my pharmacist and he will send a request to my doctor.
As for the psychologist, I am already consulting one who helps me to manage my emotions a little.
So if I understand correctly, if I go back to the citalopram and I exercise and I pay attention to my diet, I have less risk of gaining weight, so it's not necessarily the citalopram that makes me fat but more the fact that it makes me hungry?

Yes, the main cause of weight increase is via increased appetite, this is what you need to manage mostly.
