I would like to give multivitamins to my child who goes to daycare and is often sick?

My child is starting daycare and is often sick. I wanted to give him multi vitamins to help a little. I would like to know, all the multi vitamins are 3 years and older, are they toxic for the 19 months old?

Hello ma'am, thank you for your question!
There are no products, vitamins or supplements that have been shown to be effective or beneficial with respect to the immune system, in adults and children.
Instead, look to non-pharmacological measures:
  • Make sure your child is getting plenty of fruits and vegetables;
  • getting adequate sleep, and ensuring good stress management if possible, among others.
  • If one of the children or members of the household is sick, simply maintain basic hygiene measures: avoid cuddling if possible, do not share towels, and wash them but often.
Finally, if your child is prone to colds, which is the case when attending daycare centers, I strongly suggest, as a maintenance and prevention measure, sinus hygiene with a saline solution such as Hydrasense or Sinus Rinse. This is the best option to prevent the accumulation of secretions. There is no maximum during the day, but it should be done at least 30 minutes before bedtime.
Hopefully I have been helpful, I remain available if there is anything

So it's not good?

Unless there is a diagnosed deficiency, they will not provide any benefit.

Thank you! What about a little iron deficiency? Would that help or am I better off taking iron directly for child?

Iron deficiencies are very rare considering the availability of iron in a variety of foods. In addition a prescription is required for iron supplementation for children, following a medical evaluation and blood workup.
