I have with me Apo Sulfatrim DS prescribed twice a day for 5 days. I am starting a UTI right now and it is currently 3pm. Should I take the first dose immediately and the second one tonight or is it better to limit the dose to one for today?

If your recent UTIs were treated with this antibiotic, it is best not to take it at all. The bacteria involved may well have been exposed to the sulfatrim and become resistant. This could result in an antibiotic treatment with no effect (and therefore only a risk of side effects).

Instead, I would advise you to go back to the doctor to get a new antibiotic, this time fully effective.
