Good morning, ma'am,
Is this a problem that has been diagnosed? What treatment(s) have you tried?

Hello, I have had metronidazole antibiotics 3 times. The symptoms go away but come back after a few weeks

The problem was diagnosed by a nurse practitioner. But since then I have had constant problems with either bacterial vaginosis or yeast infection.

Thank you for the information, please forgive my delay!
Indeed, in case of recurrences so close together, it is recommended to consult a doctor to rule out other causes.
Having said that, bacterial vaginosis most often occurs as a result of an imbalance in the vaginal flora. Several non-pharmacological measures can help reduce their frequency:
  • Avoid all types of soap and douching. Clear water is suggested instead.
  • Avoid cleaning yourself after going to the bathroom from the bottom up: you should go from the top down during cleaning (from the front to the back).
  • Avoid tight-fitting clothes, and choose underwear that breathes better, such as cotton.
  • Avoid using condoms with flavors, perfumes and spermicides.
It is also a good idea to find out if your episodes occur as a result of a particular activity, such as sexual intercourse.
If these measures do not work and you have 4 or more episodes in the past year, a medical evaluation will be necessary.
I hope this has been helpful and if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact
