Should I be concerned about the orange color of my secretions? I've seen yellow or green secretions, but never this color. Thank you for your help!

Hi, I have had mucus in the back of my nose and throat for about 2 weeks now, but I have no trouble breathing. I don't blow my nose, but I feel the need to spit sometimes. I also lost my voice for several days and it is not back to 100% yet. Today, when I was bending over, an orange (rusty) liquid was coming out of my nose. It doesn't look like blood. When I spit, my usually yellow secretions are now orange and very thick.

Hello ma'am, did this happen only once or did you notice it several times?

Hello, just once. It lasted about 10 minutes. Thank you for your time!

Thank you for the information, I'm sorry for the delay in my response, I hadn't seen the notification!
A change in appearance can be caused by irritation of the mucous membranes by mucus and/or coughing. As long as this appearance is temporary, there is no need to worry.
The basis of treatment will be nasal hygiene with a saline solution (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse and others), which can be done as often as needed during the day, and at least 30 minutes before bedtime.
If the symptoms you are experiencing persist for more than a week without improvement or get worse, you should consult a doctor for a thorough evaluation of your condition and not to delay the right treatment, if any.
Sincerely,
