I have a rash of several small pimples all over my body that itch?

I'm worried because this has never happened to me. Is it eczema? What are my options?

Hello ma'am, I'm sorry to read about your troubles!
It is difficult to say without seeing the lesions, would it be possible to upload a picture or pictures (if not it would be better to consult a pharmacist in person).
Would you be able to identify possible causes such as dry skin, a new soap or detergent, or other?

My skin is very dry, but no change in routine has caused the lesions. I would say I have had this problem for about 2-3 weeks. Here is one that is on the inside of my elbow

Thank you for the information.
In the first instance, non-pharmacological measures would be suggested:
  • Apply a fragrance-free moisturizer such as Aveeno, Glaxal Base, Cutibase, Cerave, or other, as often as needed, whenever you feel itchy;
  • Use a fragrance-free soap such as Dove, and avoid water that is too hot (or too cold) in the shower or bath;
  • Avoid rubbing the skin too vigorously after showering, instead, lightly pat the skin to leave a thin layer of moisture, then apply the moisturizer within 5 minutes of getting out of the shower.
If necessary, your pharmacist can suggest an anti-histamine such as Reactine if the itching is very bothersome.
If the situation persists for more than a week, or gets worse, you should consult a doctor as a precaution.
I hope this has been helpful to you and if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
