The cold weather causes my daughter to itch, what can I do?

37-year-old woman2 years ago
My daughter has very fragile skin and with the arrival of colder weather, she has pruritus +++, no rash present / plaque or pimples. We give her a bath every 2-3 days to avoid drying out more, we use bioderma washing oil to wash and apply laroche posay lipikar cream. In spite of all that it stings a lot. Is there a cream to help her or an antihistamine that she could take on a "regular" basis for this time of the year that would not make her sleepy? We are a little short on solutions here.

Hello Mrs,
The basis of the treatment is hydration of the skin and other non-pharmacological measures:
A fragrance-free moisturizer such as Aveeno, Cutibase, Base Glaxal, Cerave and others should be applied as often as needed. The cream should be applied whenever the need to scratch arises, among others.
Avoid scented soaps, and after the bath or shower, avoid rubbing the skin vigorously: instead, lightly pat the skin to leave a thin layer of moisture, then apply the moisturizing cream within 5 minutes of getting out of the bath.
In cold weather, make sure your child wears gloves and that his or her neck and face are well protected (scarf, neck warmer)
If the air inside is too dry, we can also suggest a humidifier for his room.
If non-pharmacological measures are insufficient, a doctor should be consulted for a thorough evaluation of his needs.
I hope this has been helpful and remain available if you have any further questions!
