I have been taking hormones for 4 years oestrogel and prometrium. I want to stop by summer. I am down to 4 times a week. Please give me some advice.

Good health. I just take arthritic Tylenol before going to bed because of back pain at night for 3 years . I have already had 2 herniated discs.

Hello Ma'am,
Very good idea! I applaud your willingness to want to stop hormones.
To safely and effectively reduce hormone use in menopause, know that you should first reduce the Estrogel™ and not the Prometrium™. This is because the latter is used to protect you from some of the side effects of Estrogel™ (such as the risk of uterine cancer).
So, one will try to gradually reduce the number of Estrogel™ applications first. For example, one may decrease from one application per week to every 2 to 3 weeks. Once this medication is completely stopped, Prometrium™ can be stopped.
It is my pleasure,
Alexandre Chagnon, pharmacist
