Can having diarrhea decrease the effectiveness of my pill?

Two hours after taking my birth control pill (Marvelon), I had a slight diarrhea. Is this dangerous for the effectiveness?

Hello,

No, a simple diarrhea is not enough to decrease the effectiveness of your pill. It is more repeated diarrhea, for example during a gastroenteritis or when taking antibiotics, that theoretically the pill can decrease in effectiveness. Indeed, we consider that one day of diarrhea is equivalent to "losing" the pill that day.
