I have had a cervical hernia for 2 years, can it go away on its own or does it require surgery?

I have had a cervical hernia for almost 2 years, I am taking Ran Pregabalin for pain. I am waiting for an appointment with a neurosurgeon. My question: can it go away by itself or does it take a surgical intervention? Thanks in advance.

Good morning, ma'am,
Unfortunately, it does not go away. The pain can be reduced, and the extent of the hernia can be alleviated with physiotherapy treatments
I strongly encourage you to consult a physiotherapist who can develop a realistic treatment plan for you. Most group insurance plans cover this type of service.
I hope this has been helpful to you and if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me

Thanks for the feedback! I'm sorry to read about your troubles! The most important thing in chronic pain is not to focus only on the level of pain (for example, your pain on a scale of 1 to 10), but to focus on your level of function, which we will aim to improve and/or preserve as much as possible.
To this end, I like the'Brief Pain Inventory' which is a bit long, and I have used the PEG scale a lot in practice because it is quicker and more friendly. On that note, I wish you a good continuation!
