My 2.5 week old baby has a very runny eye?

Hello, My 2.5 week old baby has an eye that makes a lot of secretions. We often clean him with a washcloth and boiled water and make small massages of his canal. She was almost ok but since 2 days it started again and much more intense, thick yellowish secretions, the eye stuck. Her bed and her pajamas were all stained with secretions this morning. What can I do to help him heal? If I have polysporin antibiotic drops can I put them on her?

Hello, thank you for your question!
Does your baby have a cold, a stuffy or runny nose?

No, she doesn't have a cold, runny nose or a clogged nose.

Thank you for the clarification!
This is very often viral in origin and goes away on its own. I suggest that for now you continue the cleaning with a new wet washcloth each time.
It is normal for the eye to be stuck when you wake up, because your baby has spent all this time not blinking, and the liquid has evaporated.
If the situation persists for more than 5 days, or worsens, with greenish discharge, you should consult a doctor or optometrist.
I hope I have been helpful and I am available if you have any further questions!
