I am leaving for Guadeloupe in 2 weeks with a baby who will be 7 months old (breastfed and eating puree/cereal). Is the hepatitis A vaccine necessary?

Hello Ma'am,
According to the PIQ website (here 👈), people older than 6 months who are planning to travel to an area where hepatitis A is endemic (which is the case for Guadeloupe (moderate endemicity)) should be immunized.
Considering the fact that you are leaving in less than 2 weeks, the child may need to be given immunoglobulin to protect him/her. I invite you to consult a travel health clinic or community pharmacy where this service is offered to obtain all the details.
Happy day,
Alexandre Chagnon, pharmacist
