How do I deal with mucus that bothers me at night?

32-year-old woman2 years ago
Hello, I recently caught a virus in my throat that turned into bronchitis. Since I've been taking the pumps and antibiotics that the doctor prescribed, I'm breathing better, but I'm starting to choke quite intensely due to the mucus that's coming off and interfering with my breathing and I'm having a hard time expelling it. This happens especially at supper time and about an hour after I go to bed which wakes up my boyfriend every time and makes him more and more irritable.

Hello ma'am, besides inhalers, do you use any other products?
I strongly suggest nasal hygiene with saline solution such as Hydrasense or Sinus Rinse which can be done as often as needed during the day and at least 30 minutes before bedtime. It's a little uncomfortable but works extremely well to prevent secretions from running down the throat, which often causes coughing.
In addition to this, I suggest drinking plenty of fluids, cold or hot depending on your preference. Finally, a teaspoon of honey can be effective in relieving a cough.
I also suggest, if possible, to elevate your pillow at night, for example by putting another pillow underneath.
I hope I've been helpful, so please don't hesitate if you have any other questions
