Persistent gastro symptoms after 9 days, what to do?

35 -year-old man4 years ago
I had the gastro on June 20th. Since then, I have had a loss of appetite (feeling that what I eat stays "stuck" in my throat) and great fatigue. Usually after 2-3 days after a gastro, I felt much better and I am now on my 9th day. Thank you! No allergies.

Hello !
Thank you for your question. Indeed, the symptoms of a gastro rarely last more than 24 to 48 hours. In the last few days, have you had other episodes of vomiting or diarrhea? Have you had a fever?
Have there been any other changes in your health recently? Are you taking medication on a regular basis?
This information will help me to better advise you
I look forward to hearing from you!

No fever, vomiting or diarrhea, only more fatigue and lack of appetite since!
No medication either.
No change in my health
Also note that my nights are more difficult due to a 3 month old baby in my life
Thank you for your help!

Thank you for your answer!
Certainly the shortened nights can make recovery a little more difficult
It's also possible that the stomach virus has caused stomach inflammation (gastritis). You could try to relieve this with an over-the-counter medication such as Zantac (Ranitidine) or Pepcid (Famotidine). The recommended dose would be one tablet twice a day, 30 to 60 minutes before breakfast and supper. Symptoms should improve in 5 to 7 days. To help you, you can also try to limit irritating foods (spicy foods, alcohol, caffeine, chocolate, tomatoes, garlic, citrus fruits, etc.)
However, if the symptoms do not improve or get worse (vomiting, fever, blood in vomit or stool, etc.), I recommend that you see a doctor for an evaluation
I hope that these tips will help you, and I am available if you have more questions!
