My son is being treated for an infection and is still tired and not eating much?

Hello after having consulted several times since my boy was really not well, the doctor told us that my boy was suffering from asthma and at the moment he has a big pneumonia, after having had cerzil (allergy to peneciline) the doctor prescribed zithromax for 5 days, 2 days of decadron + ventolin at 4h as well as alvesco 1x day. My son is still very tired and hardly eats and complains of ear pain (he has tubes) complains and holds his ear. Should I reconsult since we are on day 2 of zithromax?

Good morning, ma'am,
Pneumonia can be very distressing, so it is normal that your child's general condition is not 100% and that he or she is eating less than usual. This being said, we can appreciate the beginning of the action of this antibiotic after 72 hours of treatment, but the symptoms of pneumonia may require several days to weeks before completely resolving.
I hope I've been helpful, and I'm available if you have any other questions!

Thank you he will have his 3rd dose of zithromax this noon and this morning he still has a fever of 39. He sleeps a lot I feel helpless I don't know what to do anymore...thank you for the information I will call to reconsult tomorrow if no improvement.

Thanks for the feedback. I suggest continuing the treatments if they are tolerated. Tylenol or Advil can be given at the same time while the antibiotic takes effect. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids, even if it means giving smaller amounts more frequently.

This is a common situation but should improve with treatment :)
