My 5 month old son sleeps very little day and night. Should I be concerned?

Hello Ma'am,
You say your boy is taking Synthroid™. This medication, when being adjusted, can stimulate the child and cause less effective "sleeping".
Have you noticed if the situation you describe has worsened since this medication was initiated, or upon a recent change in dosage?

He's always been like this, he sleeps little during the day and doesn't do his nights

I understand. Do you estimate that he is sleeping less than 8 hours a day?
It's not uncommon for kids this age to not get a night's sleep, and that's completely normal. The important thing here is that he gets enough sleep in a given day (so if he wakes up a lot at night, he gets 2 good naps or so in the next day).

He sleeps about 10 hours including naps and night, is that enough?

That's fine, yes.
Of course, it could be more. But if it's not too ugly in the daytime, it might be enough for him.
I encourage you to discuss this with your family doctor at your next appointment.
It is my pleasure,
Alexandre Chagnon, pharmacist
