Yes, it is possible to apply a barrier cream to protect the skin on your boy's neck from his saliva (which is probably what irritates him).

The goal here is to cover the skin with a protective cream. This cream, in my opinion, could very well be Prevex™ or Vaseline™. In fact, you need an oil-based cream, otherwise the saliva will come through and reach the irritated skin.

If the irritation doesn't go away in 7 to 10 days, I invite you to show it to a pharmacist.
