My son has been coughing since the holidays, which decreased with Flovent. Since stopping, it has started again. Can I give him Flovent continuously?

My 2 year old son had a prescription for Florent/Ventolin at the beginning of January which we gave him twice a day for 14 days. It helped him a lot, but since he stopped, that is to say 1 week, the cough is back. Can I give him the Flovent continuously? Thank you very much!

Hello Ma'am,
It is best not to give Flovent™ continuously, no. Taking Flovent™ for several weeks can contribute to side effects, starting with decreased immunity at the lung level that could result in more frequent colds.
In the case you describe, try several of the simple Ventolin™ use as needed, and look for ways to reduce the cause of the cough. For example, if her nose is running, try nasal hygiene techniques like the one described in the following document(the most effective one in my opinion).
If the cough is still there in 10 days, we'll go back to consult.
Good day,
