My 7 month old son is missing a toenail! I have never noticed this before, can it be serious?

Hello Ma'am,
Some children may be born with one or more missing toenails. Usually, all other tissues at the tips of the fingers and toes, including the structures that usually support the nail and its growth are normal. Indeed, it is not dangerous and there are no other related health problems.
According to my research, it is unlikely that the nail will ever grow if there has not already been a trace since birth.
I hope I have answered your question!
