My 21 month old daughter's temperature has been between 38.1 and 38.4 for 2 days. She has been holding her throat and losing her voice since this morning. Should I consult?

She eats well, drinks well. She sleeps a lot though. How can I help her?

Hello,
Generally, it is recommended to consult a doctor when a fever persists for more than 72 hours and when it is above 40°C. Have you tried Tylenol or Advil to relieve his fever? I can calculate the right dose to give according to his weight if you want.
Tylenol and Advil can also help with a sore throat. Cold foods can also be favored as they help numb the pain.
The symptoms you describe may be similar to pharyngitis. I recommend that you see a doctor if the fever persists until tomorrow or if it does not seem to be relieved by standard treatments (Tylenol or Advil).

Thank you!!! I gave her tylenol, but I didn't know if she was considered feverish so I didn't dare give it. Is 38.4 considered a fever? She normally stays in the 36's

If you take the temperature rectally, the child is considered feverish from 38. The same is true for the tympanic thermometer (which is not recommended under 2 years of age).
Otherwise, for oral and axillary (under the armpit) temperatures, a person is considered to have a fever from 37.5. These two methods are not recommended for children under 5 years of age.
As long as your daughter has a fever, don't hesitate to give her Tylenol every 4 hours, not exceeding 5 doses per 24 hours, especially if she seems uglier or tired.
Don't hesitate if you have any other questions,
Sandrine
