My daughter has red patches on her face with little pimples, what could it be?

She is 5 months old. She started eating 1 month ago, but I haven't introduced any new foods in the last few days. The little patches with little pimples have been there for about 2-3 days and I feel like she is starting to get little pimples on the side of her face too.

Hello,
Pimples on an infant's face can be related to a number of possible conditions. It could be an allergic reaction, although if you haven't introduced anything new lately, the odds are relatively low, if not impossible. Do the spots sting? How do the spots look? Are they white, yellow or some other color? Do they look dry or is there some kind of fluid in or around them? Depending on the information, it could be eczema, hives, acne, hot spots, etc. It is certain that only a doctor or a pediatrician will be able to establish a real diagnosis. That said, as mentioned earlier, it is quite common for an infant to develop such pimples, especially when you consider that a baby's skin is extremely fragile and constantly developing.
I hope this sheds some light on the subject. Please feel free to contact me again if you have any further information to provide and I will be happy to respond.
Sincerely,
David Tan, pharmacist
