The presence of a small pink ball after the loss of "dried navel" is normal. The presence of yellowish pus is less so.

In such a situation, I recommend that you simply use a cotton swab (Q-tip) with warm water and wash the belly button daily.

If the pus secretions continue, or if redness develops around the belly button (beyond the small red/pink ball), I would encourage you to discuss this with her physician. Otherwise, you can make it to the next follow-up appointment without any problems.
