My daughter is 9 1/2 years old. She has been suffering from a cold for two weeks. At first her nose was congested, watery, runny etc... for the last week she has been coughing. A cough more often dry than greasy. Does not have a fever and has not had one. She has no other health problems and does not take any medication. Do you have any other advice for her other than salinex? It doesn't seem to be working....

Hello!
Normally, a cough associated with a viral infection (cold) lasts about 7 days. When a cough persists for more than a week, it is preferable to consult a doctor to find out the exact cause... The fact that the cough is still present leads me to recommend that you see a doctor in the next few days
In terms of regular nasal hygiene, sinus rinse (or equivalent) is now the first choice and has been shown to be more effective than salinex. This is the primary recommendation, particularly from the Ste-Justine Hospital in pediatrics for children over 2 years of age, at a rate of 3 to 4 times a day during colds and 2 times a day regularly in winter. I am attaching a link to an explanatory document on this subject:
