Can the moderate fever with diarrhea be the cause of teething?

Hello, my 19 month old son has had a moderate fever of 38.4-38.6 for 4 days now. He has no flu-like symptoms.

Good morning, Madam,
Generally, when teething occurs, you may have a low-grade fever and loose stools. Other possible signs and symptoms of teething are mood changes, more saliva, sleep disturbance, nasal congestion, decreased appetite, tendency to put objects in the mouth, etc.
Here are some measures used during teething:
  • Massage or light pressure on the gums with a cold wet wipe
  • Rubbing the gums with the back of a cold spoon
  • Tylenol (max 5 doses per day)
If your child's general condition is poor or if the fever is still present, it would be better to go see a doctor. We generally refer children under 2 years old who have a fever that persists for more than 24 hours.
Thus, parents are generally invited to consult when these signs and symptoms are present
  • More than 40-41°C
  • Vomiting or severe diarrhea
  • Inability to eat or drink
  • Stiffness in the neck
Hopefully this answers your question,
