Can laryngitis cause a fever?

28-year-old woman2 years ago
My 4 year old son was diagnosed with viral laryngitis on Saturday. Symptoms started on Friday night (runny nose, cough) and on Saturday he had difficulty breathing so he went to the doctor for a lung x-ray. He had a dose of cortisone on Saturday and a dose of beosin prescribed in case of breathing difficulty yesterday or today. On this level the 2nd dose was not necessary. Since this morning, my coconut has a 37.6 fever under the armpit.

Good morning, ma'am,
If the laryngitis is caused by an infection, yes, fever can occur temporarily
As written, measuring the temperature under the armpit is not considered reliable. An oral or rectal thermometer is recommended :)

The doctor I saw on Saturday suspected viral laryngitis
would it be appropriate to consult again given the appearance of fever?

First of all, the temperature must be measured properly (by mouth or rectally). Then, if the fever persists for more than 72 hours, you should consult a doctor.

101.4 buccal under the tongue
we will reconsult if the fever persists within 48 hours as it started this morning
otherwise hydration rest and we were directed to advil for laryngitis so that's what we're using now
thanks for the advice! You offer a great service
