I had unprotected sex and I'm traveling, what should I do?

Hello, I am a 23 year old woman and I recently had unprotected sex. I think I have some symptoms that could be related to an STD. I am currently in Belgium and will be returning to Quebec on June 29. Unfortunately, I can't get an appointment before my departure for a screening. Am I exposing myself to great risks if I wait until my return to see a doctor?

Good morning, ma'am,
Unfortunately, it is impossible to determine what risks you have been exposed to without a proper assessment
With that in mind, did your partner have a screening done? Is it possible to see a doctor without an appointment, even if it means getting reimbursed for possible expenses with your travel insurance upon your return?

Indeed, I could try to see if there is a way to go to a walk-in. If I get results in Belgium, will they be valid in Quebec or will I still have to see a doctor when I get back to get a prescription (if ever the results are positive)?

Depending on the results when you travel, it is unlikely that you will leave the country without treatment. If the results are positive, you should be treated as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
