I have tested positive for herpes type 1 and I would like to know if this virus can be transmitted sexually when I have no symptoms

Yes, it is possible, but to a much lesser degree than if you have lesions. There can be "shedding" of the virus even if there are no symptoms, but it is impossible to know when it occurs.
