I was diagnosed with phlebitis. I started a treatment with Xarelto 4 days ago. When will the inflammation go away?

Hello Ma'am,
In most cases, the inflammation should subside after a few days of anti-inflammatory treatment and/or compression. Complete resolution usually occurs in a little more than a week. Complete resolution may take a little longer if there was a long delay between the start of your symptoms and the prescription of Xarelto.
On the other hand, if the phlebitis is associated with thrombosis, the vein may remain palpable for several months.

All right but I don't have any anti-inflammatory prescribed. Before the Xarelto takes effect can take how long because since Saturday I haven't really seen any decrease in the inflamation. Thanks

Hello,
In fact, Xarelto is not an anti-inflammatory. It is an anticoagulant that will prevent clot formation that will cause inflammation. It starts working quickly. If your leg is still swollen at this time (6-7 days after starting the treatment) and you feel redness and heat, I would tell you to contact your doctor. Medical follow-up and supportive treatment with anti-inflammatories and compression stockings may be necessary.

I see a decrease in the edema in my leg.I got compression stockings from a pharmacy. How long do I have to wear them: 2 weeks, 1 month or until my leg gets back to normal. Will I have to wear them for the rest of my life or not? Thank you

Good evening ma'am,
At your age, it would be surprising if you needed it for more than 1 month. That said, I would recommend wearing it for the duration of your symptoms.
