Can a pharmacist initiate antidepressant withdrawal?

Hello, I would like to decrease my dose of antidepressants with the goal of stopping them completely within a few months. I am taking effexor 150mg

If this is your first episode of depression or anxiety disorder, and you have been symptom free for 6 months, yes, you could discuss with your pharmacist the possibility of weaning off Effexor (this medication must be weaned over a longer period of time than other anti-depressants). Your pharmacist will be able to work out a withdrawal schedule with you and provide you with the appropriate dosage to do so, while keeping your doctor informed and following up closely with you.
