My sister takes Simvastatin 10 mg...and half a grapefruit!

Although studies do not provide definitive answers, use of statins such as simvastatin may have a slight protective effect against Alzheimer's disease.

Grapefruit is not usually recommended for use with simvastatin.

Thank you very much

Are all statins inadvisable with grapefruit or are some more acceptable?
Charles Dagenais · 6 years ago
Good question! Rosuvastatin and pravastatin are compatible with grapefruit juice
Charles Dagenais · 6 years ago
In the case of simvastatin 10mg and half a grapefruit (the fruit, not the juice), the interaction effect is not major. Half a grapefruit certainly contains less than 200ml of juice.

The effect could be greater (or even dangerous) with a simvastatin dose of 40 or 80 mg

A big thank you and have a nice day
