I have pain in my stomach (like a spot on the left side) when I have gas and when I sit down I have a little pain in my rectum and vagina. I had a cystoscopy and a CT scan (everything is fine) and a colonoscopy (only a few diverticula, thin walls in one place and removed a polyp). Constipation problem from time to time. Metamucil works very well for me. I have been taking Lipitor 20mg hs for several years. Do I have to be careful with my diet? Other than that, I have very good health. Thank you for your suggestions.

Hello Mrs.! Metamucil and Lax a Day are two very good laxatives because they act gently and do not make the intestine "lazy". We therefore agree that they can usually be taken on a regular basis without any problem (I invite you to confirm with your pharmacist though). That being said, they do not contain the same ingredient, although they act in a similar way, i.e. by creating a mass effect in the intestine, which promotes evacuation. If you are already taking Metamucil and it is working well for you, I would suggest not making a change :) As for the diet of people taking Lipitor, indeed you could be careful about the amount of fat in your diet. I invite you to consult the Heart and Stroke website, which contains several recipe suggestions in this regard: http://www.coeuretavc.ca/vivez-sainement/recettes. Have a nice day! Emmanuelle
