Concerta (methylphenidate) is a stimulant. When taken regularly, it is more likely to cause weight loss. This is a common side effect in children.

In the longer term, it is possible for a person to gain weight after stopping the drug completely. This is because the increased metabolism caused by the drug over the years is difficult for the body to compensate for when the drug is stopped. However, as long as the medication is taken regularly (and at the same dose), it is unlikely that a person will gain weight because of the medication.
