Do I need to see a doctor for a pill prescription to reduce my chances of getting one? Or are there other options?

I do have cold sores several times a year. I'm careful, I drink from a glass not a can. And it happens to me several times a year and it's disturbing.

Hello the doctor can prescribe a very effective treatment.
Valtrex is much more effective than abreva. It can be taken as soon as the episode starts to reduce the intensity and the duration.
This same medication can also be taken continuously for 6 months to reduce the number of episodes per year.

No, unfortunately.

Thank you
Do you think it can be prescribed by a gynecologist?

At his discretion if he feels comfortable doing so.
