Hello, Excellent question! In fact, Reactine® (cetirizine hydrochloride) is a metabolite of Atarax (hydroxyzine). In other words, once in the body, Atarax is transformed into active molecules, including cetirizine (the main metabolite of Atarax). Thus, you will understand that it is generally not advisable to take these 2 medications at the same time of the day Reactine® has the advantage that it can be taken during the day since it does not cause drowsiness. Atarax, on the other hand, is often reserved for bedtime, because despite its great effectiveness in treating urticaria, it causes a great deal of drowsiness (in over 10% of cases). Thus, in periods of crisis, it is possible to take Reactine® in the morning and then take Atarax around bedtime I hope this answers your question!
