Hello Mrs.,
I strongly suggest that you stop using Benadryl cream, as it contains an ingredient that can increase redness and the risk of an allergic reaction. Polysporin has no place here either.
I suggest applying ice in a damp towel for 10 minutes at a time (or a cold water compress if your child does not tolerate ice)
Depending on your preference, Benadryl (must be taken 3-4 times a day, can cause a lot of drowsiness) or Reactine (taken once a day, would cause less drowsiness, may be slower acting) by mouth may help decrease the reaction.
I recommend circling the redness with a pen. If the redness exceeds the mark despite the application of cold and/or the taking of one of the anti-histamines, you will need to consult a doctor quickly.
I will remain available if you have any further questions
