4 year old child, cold with a good cough, what else can be done to help?

Hello, my 4 year old daughter has had a cold for 5 days with a rather hollow cough, she often has coughing fits, especially in the evening. She breathes well, no fever, she is not amorphous either... we do the sinus rinse at least 3 times a day. She also has recently been prescribed pumps (Apo salbutamol 4x a day as needed and flovent 1x a day) which we started as soon as her cough started. Is there anything else we can do? Could she have another infection? When should I consult if her cough doesn't get better? Thank you so much for your help!

Hello Mrs,
Since the onset of symptoms, has the situation improved?

I would say it's stable, the cough has been similar since Thursday. It really comes in waves. The pumps still seem to help a little bit when we give it.

Thanks for the feedback!
You did well with nasal hygiene, which I recommend as often as necessary during the day and at least 30 minutes before bedtime. This, combined with the use of inhalers, is the best possible treatment for these symptoms. One thing though, if you don't use or have an aerosol chamber for his inhalers, I strongly suggest getting one from your pharmacist as this can improve the effectiveness of the inhalers.
Also, encourage him/her to drink plenty of fluids according to his/her preference.
If your symptoms persist for more than a week without improvement or get worse, you should consult your doctor
I hope I have been helpful and I am available if you have any further questions!
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist

Thank you very much for the quick feedback. I already have the aerochamber. I will continue with the nasal hygiene as well and monitor his symptoms then.

It was my pleasure, don't hesitate if there is anything!
