Hello, I am 33 weeks pregnant and I have symptoms of sinusitis (strong pressure in the nose, upper eyes, neck, jaw)

I use the sinus rinse 2-3 times a day, nothing works. Can I take Tylenol for colds and sinus?

Hello
thank you for your question and I understand from your question that
  1. you are not taking any regular medication and do not have any allergy to any medication (otherwise, please answer me simply to validate if there are any interactions with your medication).
  2. you do not have any chronic health problems
  3. you do not have any allergies.
First of all, according to the description of the symptoms you mention are potentially symptoms of sinusitis, an infection that resolves itself in 10-14 days in many cases. However, it is important to keep in mind that significant impairment of general condition, periorbital edema or redness, persistent fever over 38 degrees Celsius and the presence of increasing headaches are red flags that require prompt medical attention, which could be your case according to your description (increasing headaches).
My first approach would be to advise you to seek medical attention so that a physician can determine if you need an antibiotic. Please note that for pregnant women, however, irrigation with a nasal solution is the first option (Sinus Rinse) for treatment. If this is unsuccessful, you can combine nasal irrigation with the use of Otrivin or Dristan nasal solution for up to 3-5 days. You can combine with regular or extra strength Tylenol (ideally no cold/sinus) and take 1-2 tablets (325 or 500mg) every 4-6 hours for a maximum of 4G per day. Nasal cortisone (available behind the pharmacy counter upon consultation with the pharmacist) is a 3rd option but seems to be less effective.
I hope this can help you and don't hesitate if you have any other questions.
