Red plaque following the Moderna? vaccine

40-year-old woman3 years ago
I was vaccinated with Moderna 9 days ago.... I have redness, heat, pain on my arm but now I also have pain, heat and redness on the same side near my ribs where my lymph nodes are...is this normal? Can the effects of the Moderna vaccine spread outside the vaccination site 9 days later?

Hello Mrs., thank you for your question!
It is difficult to establish a direct link between the vaccine and the symptoms you describe, although it is not impossible, even after several days. There have also been cases where plaques have appeared elsewhere on the body (usually on the same side as the vaccinated arm) following the administration of the Moderna vaccine in particular.
These patches usually do not cause any problems, and applying a fragrance-free moisturizer often during the day can greatly help to reduce discomfort. Applying ice x10-15 minutes at a time can also help
You should notice an improvement, even if gradual, every day. If the problem persists, or other patches appear, I recommend that you consult a physician.
Sincerely,
