What are the side effects of pediapred? For a 1 year old baby

My 1 year old baby has to take pediapred syrup for bronchial inflammation. The first dose was supposed to be 25ml and then 12.5ml for day 2 to day 5 (he weighs 28lbs). 1h after taking his 25ml pediapred he had a big liquid diarrhea. Then a second diarrhea after his afternoon nap. Is this normal? He is squirming and has gas several times too. Thanks

Good morning, ma'am,
Diarrhea is one of the side effects frequently reported by the manufacturer.
It is usually recommended to administer it in the middle of a meal (if possible of course). Did your pharmacist inform you of this and/or other possible side effects?
I would also like to mention that simply fighting an illness can increase the risk of diarrhea. As long as your child appears to be in good general condition and is eating (even if less than usual), just monitor the situation.
I will remain available if you have any further questions!

Hello, yes the pharmacist had advised me to give it while eating and that he could get excited while taking this rx. However, she did not mention the diarrhea. He ended up having 4 bouts of diarrhea in water. I made sure he stayed hydrated. Since he has been taking 12.5 ml doses he has not had diarrhea again and his breathing is much better!
Have a nice day!

Thanks for the feedback, I'm happy to read you and reassured of the outcome :)
Don't hesitate if there is anything!
