What are the effects of alcohol while taking Flagyl?

I am currently taking Flagyl to treat bacterial vagisone. I have a dinner party tonight and would like to take a drink or two, but have been told that both are not recommended.

Flagyl could alter the metabolism of alcohol and cause quite unpleasant effects such as hot flashes, headaches, and a general feeling of discomfort in some people. It is therefore recommended to avoid alcohol during the treatment and until 3 days after the end.
