Cleaning with a saline solution reduces the risk of infection, especially when you have an open wound. However, sometimes this is not enough and signs of infection such as the ones you mentioned can appear:

You can continue with the saline solution and apply Polysporin locally twice a day and at each bandage change. However, since it has been 1 week, and especially if there has been no improvement, I would advise you to consult a doctor quickly to evaluate the need for an oral antibiotic or a more effective cream.
