Hello Mrs,
When did you start Synthroid?
When did the pain start? Are they felt all day or at certain times?
Do you have other symptoms such as nausea, dizziness or other?

Hello,
I started Synthroid at the end of September, 1 tablet 0.075 mg per day in the morning. It's more in the evening that I have chest pains but it can happen during the day but it's more rare. Nausea and dizziness, yes, on a few occasions but it's rather rare and not every day. But I was prescribed Synthroid, is it as much for hypothyroidism as for hyperthyroidism? Because I often see on the internet that Synthroid is for hypothyroidism. Thanks

Thanks for the feedback!
Indeed, Synthroid is prescribed for HYPOthyroidism. With that written, it would be pertinent to find possible causes for your symptoms.
What I suggest for the next 4 weeks is to keep a diary where you will write down everything you consume and the quantities, but also the activities you undertake, and your state of mind (fatigue, stress, etc.). In the second column you could write down the occurrence and extent of the symptoms. We could then identify some possible causes. This may take several weeks so I suggest being diligent.
If no cause can be suggested, or if the situation worsens, I suggest that you consult a physician to have a thorough evaluation of the situation.
I hope I've been helpful and remain available if you have any further questions!
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, pharmacist

Hello,
Well I don't understand why my doctor prescribed Synthroid if my thyroid was too high during my last blood tests! I'm going to keep a diary as you say but as for the fatigue, moj I'm a type 2 diabetic and often I'm tired but when I take my blood sugar it's ok so maybe it's the Synthroid too. Thanks

I forgot to ask you in my last post what medication is prescribed for HYPERthyroidism?
Naji-tom Samaha · a year ago
I understand your question :)
When we check the state of the thyroid gland, we don't first check the amount of thyroid hormones in the blood (called T4 and T3). We check the TSH: thyroid stimulating hormone: it is the hormone that "asks". The thyroid gland to produce T3 and T4. If the gland is not producing, the TSH rises, and that's what we see on the blood test
Is this the high TSH you are talking about?

Hello,
Yes, on my blood tests, the TSH was 7.26 mUI/L and it is registered high below that. So, my doctor decided to prescribe me as I told you Synthroid 0.075 mcg. Is this the right medication she prescribed? Thank you

I cannot comment on laboratory data as the diagnosis (primary or secondary hypothyroidism) is based on other aspects of the assessment. Your question should be redirected to your pharmacist as he/she most likely has the information necessary to properly monitor your condition, including dose validation.
