My daughter has cold symptoms and hives?

28-year-old woman3 years ago
My daughter is sick (cold symptoms, cough, nasal congestion) and has had hives appearing in different places on her body since Saturday night. Should I give Benadryl throughout the hives? If so, how often?

Hello ma'am, thank you for your question!
If the pimples are not causing her problems, such as itching or discomfort, or are only appearing in one particular area at a time, there is no need to give her Benadryl. The first suggestion is to apply a fragrance-free cream such as Aveeno or other brands, as often as necessary. I suggest using a fragrance-free soap like Dove, and avoid rubbing the skin dry; instead, lightly pat the skin to leave a thin layer of moisture, then apply the cream within 5 minutes of getting out of the bath.
For cold symptoms, if you haven't already done so, I encourage you to perform nasal hygiene as often as necessary with a saline solution and a nasal aspirator (depending on the age of the baby).
I hope I've been helpful, and please don't hesitate if you have any other questions!
