Hello,
I have had dry, red patches on my calves for a few months now, and they seem to be increasing.
I apply Aveno moisturizer every morning after showering. I also apply polysporin in place of the cream a few times a week.

Hello sir, thank you for your question!
You did the right thing with using Aveeno, make sure it's the fragrance free kind. I would encourage you to apply it more often though, at least 3 times a day if possible. Avoid scratching if that's the case, apply the moisturizer instead, it can be used as often as needed, there is no maximum. For what
Other non-pharmacological measures should also be tried, if not already in place:
Use a fragrance-free soap such as Dove
When showering, avoid water that is too hot. After the shower, avoid rubbing the skin too vigorously to dry it. Instead, lightly pat the skin to leave a thin layer of moisture, then apply the cream no more than 5 minutes after getting out of the shower.
If these measures are insufficient or only partially effective, you could try applying a hydrocortisone-based cream (in addition to the moisturizing cream). Several types are available without a prescription in pharmacies; your pharmacist will be able to tell you which one and provide information on how to use it.
I hope I have been of some help to you, and if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!
