Hello,
How do we know how long our child or ourselves are contagious with hand-foot-and-mouth disease? Is it only when we are feverish and 48 hours after? Thank you for helping me.
Ps: I am from Canada. I live in Ontario in VankleekHill.

Hello,
A child or adult with hand-to-mouth disease is contagious for the duration of the illness, which is about 7 days. Even if the pimples have not yet appeared, the person can be contagious, especially if he or she coughs and has a runny nose. The virus can remain in the stool for several weeks, and even months. For children in daycare or school settings, there is no isolation. If the child is feeling well, he or she can continue to attend school
An adult in contact with a sick child is not contagious if they wash their hands and clean the surfaces touched by the sick child.
