How do I stop taking Seroquel?

57-year-old woman3 years ago
I was prescribed Seroquel 100mg. at bedtime because I was no longer sleeping with Ativan but the Seroquel only gives me side effects... in a few months I gained 25 lbs. I am so bloated that I look like a pregnant woman. I even have difficulty breathing, always short of breath, difficulty digesting... when I go to bed, I have to sit up in bed to eat and the food from my dinner comes back up in my mouth... I want to wean myself off this damn medication, how can I do it? Thanks

Hello, thank you for your question!
Indeed, it would be appropriate to gradually stop the medication you are talking about. It is usually suggested to decrease the dosage by 25% per week, but this is only a guideline. You need to individualize your schedule and your pharmacist can help you with this. I invite you to consult your pharmacist who will be able to accompany you, suggest a schedule, do a close follow-up and communicate with your doctor.
I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
