I have been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome. I am taking metformin. I wanted to know how long to wait to get pregnant?

Hello;
In polycystic ovary syndrome, metformin will improve glucose uptake by the body's cells by increasing insulin sensitivity. Metformin can also decrease the production of androgens
For your question for how long before getting pregnant, some gynecologists talk about 3 months but it is not a precise rule, for some women and often it can take much longer.
Also be aware that with untreated polycystic ovary syndrome, some women ovulate only 2 to 3 times a year or not at all. You must therefore give your body time to respond to the new treatment, if you do not get a response with metformin, ovulation inducers can always be prescribed later
I advise you to have a balanced diet, avoid prolonged fasting, a nutritionist can help you in this process. Practice regular physical activity (30 minutes per day)
If you haven't already done so, be sure to start multivitamins containing folic acid
